Mount Olympus National Park

The Mount Olympus National Park is on the border between Thessaly and Macedonia.  Mount Olympus has 52 peaks.  The highest one is called Mytikas and it is 2917,72 metres high.  


Plants and Animals 


Mount Olympus has very many different plants and animals.  It has got oak trees, pine trees and beeches.  It has got 23 local plants and the most famous is the Campanula oreadum.  In Ancient Greece there were lions.  Now, there are brown bears, deer, wild boar and the red squirrel.  


Activities


You can go hiking and climbing in the Park.  No hunting is allowed and only very good climbers can go to the top.  You can stay at one of the six  mountain refuges.
