The Vikos Gorge

The Vikos Gorge is in Epirus.  It is very beautiful and very deep.  It's 1350 metres deep and 32 kilometres long.  It is also very old, between 20,000 and 30,000 years old.  

Plants and animals

The most famous plant is the very popular Greek "Mountain Tea" and the most important local animal is the Chamois goat-antelope.

Things to Do

You can go hiking from the village of Monodendri to the springs of Voidomatis river.   You can also hike to the villages of Papingo and Vikos or go towards the 18th century stone bridges near Kipi village.
